Sri Lanka Tests Imported Milk for Melamine

Sri Lanka has introduced technology that can detect melamine in imported milk foods.

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry said the state, and private sector, at a substituted price, will be able to test for the organic base of cyanamide, which was behind the death of a number of infants in China last year.

Sri Lanka previously used costly food services of other nations to test for melamine, which was used by producers in China to ‘bulk’ out milk.
