JBT to acquire food safety solutions provider Prevenio in US

JBT Corporation has signed a definitive agreement to acquire US-based food safety solutions provider Prevenio for a consideration of $170m.

Previously known as CMS Technology, Prevenio offers pathogen protection through its unique anti-microbial delivery solution that enhances food safety and integrity.

The company provides food safety solutions primarily for the poultry industry.

It also has a full-service laboratory in Bogart, Georgia, which specialises in microbiology focused on both field and research and development testing.

JBT executive vice-president and Protein president Paul Sternlieb said: “In addition to the food safety and integrity benefits, Prevenio provides proprietary turnkey solutions to our customers and ensures the safe and effective delivery of anti-microbials.

“We are excited with the prospect of enhancing Prevenio’s already strong growth profile by leveraging JBT’s global customer base while also supporting the development of its solutions for non-poultry applications.”

Following the acquisition, JBT will be able to improve its recurring revenue portfolio and advance its investment in solutions that support the daily operations of its customers.

Completion of the transaction is expected to take place early in the third quarter this year.
