Nestlé Starts Chilled Dairy Plant in Sri Lanka

Nestlé has begun development of a refrigerated dairy site in Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka.

The facility, with a capacity of 1,600l, will be served by several milk collection points set up by Nestle Lanka, according to the company.

Nestlé said it is planning to invest in eight more units before the end of 2010.

Nestlé Lanka is the country’s largest private sector collector of fresh milk, procuring an average of 115,000l of milk every day from 13,000 local dairy farmers.
