Nomad Foods concludes Aunt Bessie’s acquisition for €240m

Nomad Foods has completed its previously announced acquisition of UK-based frozen food company Aunt Bessie’s from William Jackson & Son as part of a deal valued at €240m.

The acquisition was initially announced last month and includes Aunt Bessie’s production facility in Hull, England.

Aunt Bessie’s distributes and sells a range of branded frozen food products such as Yorkshire puddings and frozen potatoes.

Nomad Foods CEO Stefan Descheemaeker said: “The acquisition of Aunt Bessie’s exemplifies our dedication and progress towards transforming the frozen food category, both organically and through acquisitions.

“Aunt Bessie’s further develops our portfolio in the UK with its strong brand positioning and market leadership in frozen roast potatoes and frozen Yorkshire puddings.

Nomad Foods intends to leverage the acquisition of Aunt Bessie’s in order to further develop its portfolio in the UK, which is a strategically important market.

The combination of Aunt Bessie’s, Birds Eye and the recently acquired Goodfella’s is expected to result in a complementary portfolio for the company, offering an improved scale and greater diversification.

Nomad Foods enlisted Credit Suisse as financial advisor and Norton Rose Fulbright as legal advisor for the transaction.

Stamford Partners acted as financial advisor and Addleshaw Goddard acted as legal advisor to William Jackson & Son in relation to the deal.

Nomad Foods is primarily engaged in the production of food within the frozen products category, as well as across the broader food sector.
