Royal Wessanen Unveils Restructuring Plan

Royal Wessanen said it is considering selling American Beverage Corporation, which makes Daily’s cocktail mixes and Hugs juice jugs.

The company said it will complete business process redesign and cost reductions of Verona, Pennsylvania-based ABC in 2010, which it plans to sell in 2011.

In its 2009 year-end results, Royal Wessanen said it wanted to divest ABC among its four business priorities.

Royal Wessanen has owned ABC – the third-largest producer of noncarbonated juice drinks in the US – since the late 1980s.

The company said it is selling the unit as part of a strategy to exit the North American market to focus on selling organic products in Europe.
