TruTag and PwC Australia form food traceability partnership

US-based security solutions provider TruTag Technologies has entered a strategic alliance with PwC Australia over the Food Trust Initiative.

The new partnership will see the inclusion of TruTag’s edible barcode technology as part of the PwC initiative.

Developed by PwC Australia, PwC Food Trust Platform is claimed to be an advanced and holistic anti-counterfeit technology solution for the food and beverage industry.

TruTag Technologies business development senior vice-president Barry McDonogh said: “We are thrilled to be working with PwC Australia on this initiative.

“PwC brings a shared vision for food traceability, a highly complementary technology platform, and the resources to scale and deliver across multiple industry segments and geographies.”

The company claimed that the integration of TruTag’s edible barcode technology into the Food Trust Platform will enable it to deliver significant supply chain visibility.

Under the new partnership, the PwC Australia and TruTag’s alliance is seeking to address various challenges faced by the global food supply chains, including food misrepresentation, adulteration, diversion, and counterfeiting.

Currently, PwC Australia and TruTag are working on the development of supply chain technology programmes with its customers in the meat and wine industry.
