Plant-based egg maker JUST partners with Michael Foods in US

Plant-based food company JUST has partnered with Post Holdings subsidiary and value-added eggs processor Michael Foods to offer the former’s plant-based egg product to US consumers.

As part of the new partnership, Michael Foods will manufacture and distribute JUST Egg to foodservice and food ingredient customers.

Michael Foods has been offering value-added eggs under various brands such as Papetti’s, Abbotsford Farms and Davidson’s Safest Choice.

Produced using ingredients from mung beans, JUST Egg is available in two different formats, including a pourable liquid, which is said to be suitable for scrambles, omelettes, stir-fries and baking applications.

The pre-baked folded egg patty format is said to be ideal for on top of toast or inside a breakfast sandwich.

The company claims that all its products are free from cholesterol, dairy and non-GMO, as well as Kosher-certified.

Earlier this month, JUST increased its protein processing capacity by partnering with Emsland Group, a global raw material manufacturer.

The company expects that the new partnership will help the company to cope with the increasing global demand for its plant-based product, which is marketed as JUST Egg in the US.
