The high-shear mixer is a system for the mixing, granulation and sieving of powders and granulated products. Moreover, it is suitable for a wide range of food and cosmetics products. A three-bladed mixing tool rotates in a vertical, cylindrical mixing vessel close to the wall and bottom of the vessel. The shape and peripheral speed of the mixing tool create a vortex-like circulation of the mix. This product movement ensures very short mixing times in conjunction with excellent mixing quality, and permits build-up of granulated products. A separately driven chopper is used for breaking up any agglomerated products, as well as for moistening and granulation. Liquid addition is either gravimetric or uses a pump to add liquid directly to the effective range of the chopper, ensuring the best possible distribution. The optional wet sieve on the discharge ensures completely homogeneous distribution of the granulate size.
MGT mixing granulator: great flavour all along the line
Lödige’s MGT mixing granulator is a vertical system for mixing and granulating. This mixer type also fulfils the special requirements posed, e.g. by the capsule coffee manufacturing process with an application-specific mixing impeller and reinforced drive.
In the cylindrical mixing vessel, a specially developed sword-shaped impeller rotates with a small clearance to the wall and bottom of the vessel in order to achieve the required bulk density and homogeneous mixing quality. In addition, the processing vessel is equipped with a cooling unit to ensure that the full aroma of the coffee powder is preserved. The product is aromatized according to recipe parameters directly in the processing vessel of the mixing compactor, and this can be performed either manually or automatically. The machine only needs three minutes to mix and compact a batch of coffee powder. Changeovers to the manufacture of aromatized or decaffeinated coffee are quick: the system is designed to enable manual dry cleaning in the shortest possible time.
