Ferrero to establish new plant in Turkey

Italian confectionery group Ferrero is setting up a 146,000m² plant in the province of Manisa, Turkey, with an investment of €90m ($126.11m).

Ferrero UK managing director Christian Walter said that the company firmly believes in the economic development of Turkey with its rapid demographic growth.

"Turkey is not seen solely as a country of strategic importance as a supplier of raw materials, but also as a growing domestic market," Walter added.

The plant will be the group’s 19th production facility and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013, producing Nutella and Kinder chilled products.

Recently, the company has also opened a 28,000m² plant in Maharashtra, India, for the production of its Kinder Joy eggs and Tic Tac mints.
