Batory Foods to commence construction of Illinois facility in May

US-based Batory Foods intends to start the construction of a new 678,000ft² facility in Wilmington, Illinois, in May.

Slated to begin operations in November, the facility will help the company launch a new business line, delivering third-party logistics services to major suppliers. It will also provide third-party logistics services in Illinois to multinational dairy company Fonterra.

Batory operations project manager Jessica Stoja said: "Not only does the technology give us an edge from a business perspective.

"It allows us to meet and exceed world-class standards in food safety, security and employee safety."

Technology upgrades at the new facility will include custom-built food grade dock packages that would bolster environmental controls, as well as food safety.

These will facilitate the trailer seals to be both sealed and unsealed inside the new factory.

Batory operations vice-president Fred Dingraudo was quoted by FoodIngredientsFirst as saying: "We will gain unprecedented efficiencies in all services we provide.

"We have focused on building a foundation around food safety and related controls."

Yard managements and an automatic gate system will help reduce carrier cycle time at the site. The distribution centre will be C-TPAT Certified.

Batory Foods serves as an authorised distributor for the Corbion product line that includes lactic acid, lactic acid derivatives and lactides.
