Döhler acquires significant stake in Italy’s Nutrafood

Ingredients producer Döhler Group has signed an agreement to acquire a significant stake in Italy’s plant-based ingredient producer Nutrafood, for an undisclosed price.

Döhler is set to strengthen its presence in the plant-based food and beverages market.

The company currently offers a wide range of products and solutions ranging from smoothies to spoonables.

Nutrafood’s capabilities to provide nut products will supplement Döhler’s portfolio that includes pulses, cereal bases and low-calorie bases.

Döhler and Nutrafood will jointly focus on developing new products and solutions that are in line with current consumer trends.

A statement from Döhler said: “This transaction marks a step where customers will benefit from a more complete offering and improved efficiency of the combined businesses in a global market that is characterised by volatility, as well as the challenges and opportunities of supply and demand.”

Earlier this month Döhler signed an agreement to acquire Passina Group’s Concentra Europe with its Dutch and German subsidiaries.

Concentra Holding owns the Passina brand name and will focus its future activities on the production and commercialisation of passion fruit products.

Completion of the proposed transaction is subject to the approval of antitrust authorities.

German company Döhler is active in more than 130 countries and has over 40 production sites, in addition to sales offices and application centres on every continent.
