US Firm Gets Aid for Yogurt Processing Plant

Commonwealth Dairy has received $10m from Wainwright Bank & Trust Company to build a yogurt production processing facility in Brattleboro, Vermont, US.

The 39,000ft2 facility, which will be built on 5.9 acres in the Delta Campus, is expected to accept up to 50 million pounds of milk annually for processing.

The company is planning to invest $32m in the facility, which is scheduled to be operational in early 2011.

Commonwealth Dairy, with annual revenues of $1bn, is partnering with German yogurt maker Ehrmann to increase its market share in the $4bn yogurt market.
