China Starch to Increase Production to Meet Demand

China Starch has revealed its expansion plan to increase its annual production capacity of cornstarch and starch-based sweeteners in approximately two years.

The company said that as part of business strategies, it is planning to increase annual production capacity of cornstarch, lysine and starch-based sweeteners from the current 850,000t, 55,000t and 100,000t per annum to 1,650,000t, 105,000t and 300,000t per annum respectively in a span of about two years to satisfy and cater for current and future market demands.

The proposed expansion will principally involve a combination of improvements in production technologies and equipment.

Apart from the production of cornstarch, the company also manufactures other cornstarch-related products including lysine, other ancillary corn-refined and corn-based products and starch-based sweeteners, all of which are principal raw materials applied in the production of foods, soft drinks and beverages products, and also in the pharmaceutical, textile, chemical and other industries including paper, fermentation, animal feeds and agricultural fertilisers industries.
