SternMaid to construct second plant in Wittenburg, Germany

German contract manufacturer SternMaid plans to begin construction of its second production plant at Wittenburg with a €15m investment.

Construction on the facility will begin in September and become operational by next year.  The plant will produce powdered foods and food supplements.

Under the first phase, a production and warehouse complex with a floor area of 5,000m² will be constructed opposite its existing plant.

As the second facility will have additional reserves, it will be used to manufacture retail products.

SternMaid's first facility was installed with a new blending line with automatic weighing of raw materials. This line was commissioned at last month.

The new facility will feature approximately a 2,500m² warehouse, a 2,000m² production area, and 500m² for technical equipment.

Both facilities will work independently. The first plant will focus on industrial processing products while the new facility will concentrate on the manufacture of retail products.

SternMaid CEO Torsten Wywiol was quoted by Foodingredientsfirst.com as saying: “Blending is our mission. In 1999, we started with lines 1 and 2, and now line 8 has recently been commissioned.

“SternMaid is all set for growth, so that we shall continue to meet the demand for powder mixtures in full. Construction of the second plant will enable us to serve our retail customers and meet their requests even better in future.”
