Puratos to build bakery ingredient facility in US

Belgium-based Puratos is set to start the construction of a €30m ($41.32m) bakery ingredient facility in New Jersey, US.

The 15,900m² plant will produce various types of bakery improvers, bases, mixes, bio-fermented sourdoughs and finishers, including glazes, icings, and fruit and cream fillings.

The facility will have an annual production capacity of 40,000t, which, according to the company, will enable Puratos to serve customers across the US more effectively.

The new plant is expected to go onstream in 2012 and is likely to create 190 local jobs.

Puratos produces and markets food ingredients and semi-finished products for the bakery, chocolate and patisserie sectors, and has 60 production plants in 40 countries.
