Nestlé to boost chocolate production capacity in Spain

Swiss food company Nestlé has installed a new production line for moulding chocolates in its plant at La Penilla de Cayón, Spain, with an investment of €10m.

The line features technology to produce new varieties in chocolate and will boost the factory’s annual production of chocolate to 7,000t.

Over the last five years, the company has invested about €75m in the plant.

The La Penilla de Cayón factory produces chocolates and confectionery, cocoa powder and infant formula, with about 40% of its annual production exported to 45 countries across the globe.

This is the company’s second investment in Spain in 2011 – it spent about CHF64m on a Girona coffee factory in March.
