Mars plans to invest in US-based manufacturing

Confectionery company Mars is planning to invest $900m in its supply chain in the US.

The confectioner further added that it is an additional investment to the $1bn already invested in its US-based manufacturing, creating 1,000 new jobs in the past five years.

The company has recently invested in its Petcare business to expand its production capabilities in Fort Smith and Arkansas.

Mars Chocolate North America president Tracey Massey said: “We truly believe in the value of keeping our operations in America, it’s good for our people, it’s good for our business, and it’s good for the long-time fans of our products.

“We’re looking forward to what these investments bring in 2017 and beyond.”

Last year, the company invested in production facilities in Topeka, Kansas; New Sioux City, South Dakota; and Yorkville, Illinois.

The company further explained that its new investments would create new jobs and add more Mars products to be made in local communities across the US.
