Ferrero to expand Brantford plant in Canada

Italian chocolate manufacturer Ferrero plans to invest C$36m ($27.5m) at its plant in Brantford, Ontario, Canada.

This investment will see the addition of new production lines to manufacture three new products.

The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund will contribute C$1.5m to support the expansion of the facility.

The new products manufactured at the expanded facility will be sold across North America.

Ferrero's Canadian unit spokesperson was quoted by Just-food.com as saying: “Brantford has proven to be a great manufacturing location for us and a catalyst for us to expand our business and grow our presence in North America.”

Ferrero currently manufactures a wide range of products such as Ferrero Rocher, Nutella, Kinder Surprise, and Raffaello in Canada.

The facility expansion is expected to be completed by next August.

Set up in 2006, the Brantford facility is the firm's only plant in North America. The expansion will create 55 new jobs.

Ferrero has facilities in 22 countries worldwide, including Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil and Argentina.
