Buisman Ingredients receives FSSC 22000 certification

Buisman Ingredients has received FSSC 22000 food safety standard certification, following a final audit in October.

Buisman Ingredients business development manager Hans Zijlstra said this certification underlines the company’s drive to be the authority on caramelised sugars, not only in technical service and uniqueness of products but also in providing products that meet the highest quality standards.

"We are very pleased with this certification as it will stimulate our growth in the leading EU food markets," Zijlstra said.

FSSC 22000 features a full certification scheme for food safety systems based on current certification standards – ISO 22000, ISO 22003 and technical specifications for sector PRPs.

The certification is accredited under the standard ISO guide 17021 and has been recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative Board of Directors.

FSSC 22000 has been developed to ensure food safety practices are followed by organisations that manufacture animal products, perishable vegetable products, products with a long shelf-life, and food ingredients such as additives, vitamins, bio-cultures and food packaging material.

Buisman Ingredients, based in the Netherlands, is involved in the production, development and application of caramelised sugars and caramels in bakery, meat, dairy and confectionery products.
