Blue Harvest Fisheries acquires High Liner Foods

US-based distributor of premium seafood products Blue Harvest Fisheries has acquired High Liner Foods, a seafood company.

Financial details of the transaction have not been divulged.

As part of the acquisition, Blue Harvest Fisheries will take over High Liner Foods scallop business and the company's processing facility located in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

High Liner Foods is one of the largest seafood companies in North America.

Blue Harvest Fisheries CEO Jeff Davis said: “HLF’s expertise and distribution capabilities in the frozen scallop market are highly complementary to our existing capabilities in the fresh scallop market.

“Through this acquisition, we will grow our customer base, increase our portfolio of quality assured products, and build increased presence in the premium seafood marketplace.”

The acquisition will bolster Blue Harvest’s existing processing and distribution capabilities.

High Liner Foods president and CEO Keith Decker said: “We are pleased to conclude this transaction with Blue Harvest and look forward to working with them to continue to offer high-quality, sustainable scallop products to our valued customers.”

Blue Harvest entered the scallop processing and distribution business in August with the acquisition of Hygrade Ocean Products.
