Deals this week: White Innovation, Impossible Foods

White Innovation D.M 2012 (Genie Enterprise) has secured $8m in a series A funding round led by Sirius Venture Capital and participated by Carl Marks & Co.

Based in Israel, Genie Enterprise is a food company, while Sirius Venture Capital is a venture capital firm based in Singapore and Carl Marks & Co is a US merchant banking firm.

Genie Enterprise will use funds raised to strengthen its research and development (R&D) activities and expand its market reach.

Impossible Foods has secured $114m in convertible notes financing from Sailing Capital Advisors and Temasek Holdings.

Based in the US, Impossible Foods is involved in the production of plant-based meat and dairy products, while Sailing Capital Advisors and Temasek Holdings are private equity firms based in Hong Kong and Singapore respectively.

Impossible Foods will use funds to increase capacity at its plant in Oakland, California, and enter the Asian market.

Five Continent Spices has raised seed funding from its founders and private angel investors.

Based in the US, Five Continent Spices is a supplier and packager of organic spices and herbs.

The company plans to use proceeds for prototype development and to commence a crowdfunding campaign.

Wild Type has raised $3.5m in seed funding from Spark Capital.

The funding round included participation from Root Ventures, Mission Bay Capital, and a group of angel investors.

Wild Type is a lab-grown meat company, while Spark Capital, Root Ventures, and Mission Bay Capital are venture capital firms.

All parties involved in the transaction are based in the US.

Wild Type will use funds raised to boost its cellular growth infrastructure, reduce the cost of its meat and expand its manufacturing capacity.

India-based medicinal herbs supplier Carmel Organics has secured funds through a financing round led by Ankur Capital.

Carmel Organics plans to use funds raised to strengthen its business and expand its global footprint.

General Mills intends to raise $1.4bn through a public offering of senior unsecured notes due 2028.

Priced at 99.798% on the principal amount, the notes bear an interest rate of 4.2% a year.

General Mills concurrently plans to raise $850m, $800m, $650m, $600m and $500m through a public offering of senior unsecured notes due 2021, 2023, 2025, 2038 and 2048 respectively.

The notes bear an annual interest of 3.2%, 3.7%, 4%, 4.5% and 4.7% respectively.

General Mills plans to use proceeds raised for the acquisition of Blue Buffalo Pet Products and to pay the related fees and expenses.

The company has also announced plans to raise $850m and $400m through a public offering of floating-rate notes due 2021 and 2023 respectively.

Based in the US, General Mills is a producer and marketer of consumer foods.
