Food industry venture financing deals total $125.17m globally in February 2021

The $26.75m venture financing of Future Meat Technologies was the food industry’s top venture financing deal as total deals worth $125.17m were announced globally in February 2021, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 50.6% over the previous month of $253.36m and a drop of 53.5% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $269.08m.

Comparing venture financing deals value in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $42.5m. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $30.04m.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for food industry venture financing deals globally, followed by Asia-Pacific and then Europe.

The top country in terms of venture financing deals activity in February 2021 was the US with ten deals, followed by the China with four and the UK with three.

In 2021, as of February, food venture financing deals worth $378.53m were announced globally, marking a decrease of 39.5% year on year.
