Food industry cross border deals total $856.53m globally in March 2021

Total food industry cross border deals worth $856.53m were announced globally for March 2021, with the $300m venture financing of Guoquan Shihui being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 1217.9% over the previous month of $64.99m and a rise of 8.02% when compared with the last 12-month average of $792.95m.

In terms of number of cross border deals, the sector saw a rise of 73.68% with 33 deals in March 2021 when compared to the last 12-month average of 19 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with cross border deals worth $407.5m in March 2021.

The top five cross border deals accounted for 90.5% of the overall value during March 2021.

The combined value of the top five cross border deals stood at $775.3m, against the overall value of $856.53m recorded for the month.
