US Pork and Beef Exports Rise

The US pork variety meat export value has increased by 7% over April last year, reaching its highest level since November 2008.

The country’s beef/beef variety meat export value has also topped its year-ago level by 27%, according to statistics released by the USDA.

In April, pork/pork variety meat exports were 156,211t worth $400.95m, bringing the cumulative January-April total to 625,004t valued at $1.51bn.

In the same month, beef plus beef variety meat exports was 82,827t worth $311.3m, bringing the cumulative 2010 total to 307,949t valued at $1.1bn.

The USDA said the US pork exports to the ASEAN region were up 51% in volume with 30,462t and 65% in value at $57m.
