PIK Vrbovec to distribute meat products to Polish supermarket chain Biedronka

Croatian meat producer PIK Vrbovec has signed a distribution agreement with Polish supermarket firm Biedronka, as part of its strategy to enhance its presence in the region.

This deal will see PIK Vrbovec distribute its meat products to the Polish retailer.

Since 2005, PIK Vrbovec has been part of Croatian food company Agrokor and has been exporting its meat products such as salami and ham to more than 15 European countries.

“We are delighted that Biedronka has recognised the quality and strength of PIK Vrbovac and the fact that we are able to meet the extremely high standards required."

Its products are mainly exported to countries such as Romania, Sweden, Hungary and Italy.

Owned by Portuguese retail group Jeronimo Martinis Group, Biedronka operates more than 2,700 stores throughout Poland.

PIK Vrbovec marketing director Tihana Vujcic was quoted by just-food.com as saying: "The Polish market, with as many as 38 million people, is a huge export potential for Croatian products.

“We are delighted that Biedronka has recognised the quality and strength of PIK Vrbovac and the fact that we are able to meet the extremely high standards required."

The last few years have seen the company increasingly focus on exports. Last year, it exported 20% of its production, which marks a 12% increase in comparison to the year before.
