Charoen Pokphand Foods to build soup facility in Thailand

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) is building a new soup manufacturing plant in Thailand.

The company stated that this new facility will manufacture healthy soups for elderly people.

CPF's new facility is located at Wangnoi Amphor in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province, around 50km from Bangkok, reported Just-food.com.

The company stated that this is its first soup manufacturing facility in the country.

Currently under construction, the factory is expected to commence operations later this year.

It will initially manufacture chicken soup, which will first be sold in Thailand and later exported to other markets worldwide.

The facility is being set up with an investment of THB700m ($20m).

The firm expects to generate a revenue of THB1.2bn ($34m) from the facility, which will manufacture 70,000t of soup a day.

CPF recently bought a significant stake in Foodfellas, a UK-based food supplying company. This acquisition is expected to help CPF's presence in the UK's foodservice segment.
