Alfa Laval to supply process solution for soybean oil refining plant in Brazil


Centrifugal separation and fluid handling solutions provider Alfa Laval has secured a Skr125m ($14.7m) contract to supply a process solution for an undisclosed soybean oil refining plant in Brazil.

The process solution to be provided to the Brazilian oil refining plant includes various pieces of equipment such as high-speed separators and heat exchangers. The equipment will be deployed by Alfa Laval in the oil refinery where soybeans will be refined to produce consumer oils.

Alfa Laval food and water division president Nish Patel said: “Our proven technology is reliable and efficient and meet the high demands from customers in the food industry.”

The contract, which also includes a service agreement, will be executed by Alfa Laval food and water division’s food systems unit with deliveries to commence next year.

In May, Alfa Laval opened the Food and Water competence centre in Søborg, Denmark, to focus on research and development as well as strengthen its position in the global market in food and water segment.

The company’s equipment, systems and services are used by several firms that produce food and beverages, starch and sugar products.

Alfa Laval has nearly 17,000 employees and its customers are spread across nearly 100 countries.
