Orkla acquires Danish bakery Struer Brød

Norway-based supplier of branded consumer goods Orkla has completed the acquisition of Danish bakery Struer Brød (Struer) through its wholly owned subsidiary Orkla Foods Sverige.

Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed by both the parties.

Established in 1929, Struer has been producing and marketing breakfast cereals and breadcrumbs to a wide range of customers.

Struer currently has a workforce of 44 employees.

The Danish firm is reported to have been supplying its breakfast cereals to Orkla since 2012, as well as selling products to the out-of-home sector and the food industry under their own brand Struer.

Orkla Foods executive vice-president and CEO Atle Vidar Nagel Johansen said: “Struer delivers high-quality products and has strong product development expertise.

“We are pleased with our collaboration with Struer, and this acquisition is strategically important to ensure sufficient production capacity and product development for the future.”

Orkla offers a wide-range of healthier breakfast products under its Paulúns, Bare Bra, and Det Gode Liv brands in a number of markets.

Orkla supplies branded consumer goods to bakery markets and concept solutions to the grocery, out-of-home, and bakery businesses.

In addition to Nordic regions and the Baltic States, Orkla also exports its products to certain markets in Central Europe and India.
