Truitt Brothers recalls pasta, ground beef products in US

US-based Truitt Brothers has begun recalling around 1.77 million pounds of shelf-stable pasta and ground beef products as they may contain hydrolyzed soy protein and dried soy sauce that are not mentioned on the packaging.

The products subject to the recall include 3.3lb cases containing six 9oz microwaveable containers of Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets SINGLES – ULTIMATE CHEESEBURGER MAC, which were produced between 6 May 2013 and 16 January 2014.

The recalled products bear case codes 00210000432900, 00210000432910, 00210000432925, 00210000464000 and 00210000465100 with a Best By date code of 2 March 2014 – 23 October 2014.

The products were supplied to Kraft Foods distribution centres and retail locations across the nation.

The recall was initiated after a routine quality check, which found that the products were mislabelled, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The company believes that the problem may have occurred when a label supplier inadvertently mixed labels.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the recall, and no other Velveeta or Kraft products have been effected by the recall.
