Spoon Guru app to address food intolerances and allergies

UK technology company Spoon Guru has introduced an app that provides alternative options for people who suffer from multiple food allergies, intolerances or have specific dietary preferences.

Available from this month, the Spoon Guru app will prove beneficial for Britons as a majority of them suffer from food intolerances or multiple allergies.

The app will be available for iOS devices and offer a vast range of choices of products, ingredients and recipes for people with food intolerances or lifestyle diets.

Spoon Guru co-founder and CEO Markus Stripf said: "We are all unique and so are our allergies and dietary preferences.

"Someone with an egg allergy may also be a vegetarian who prefers a low-sugar diet.

"No matter how complex the need, Spoon Guru is designed to find food that’s just right for that person. We want to focus on what you can eat, rather than what you can’t."

Users can create their personal food profile by selecting their preferences from a list of more than 20 food intolerances and diets. Based on the preferences, the app will instantly search and provide a wide range of options that include recipes, food sources, ingredients and supermarket products.

The app first analyses the ingredients in detail from its own database, before matching the results to provide users with the correct food choices.

Spoon Guru claimed that it reviews and breaks down each recipe into its macro and micro nutrients level in order to meet the user’s fixed profile.

The app can also scan barcodes at home or supermarkets to enable users to scan each product for allergens and get the option that fit their dietary needs.
