Reily Foods buys New England Tea & Coffee

Reily Foods has purchased New England Tea & Coffee Company, a Massachusetts-based independent coffee roaster, to expand its coffee distribution capabilities in the US.

The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Established in 1916, New England Coffee markets bagged and flavoured coffees and owns a growing single pod coffee share in the market.

Reily Foods said that New England Coffee complements its roasting capacity and packaging capabilities, creating a network of three roasting facilities.

The production and distribution operations of New England Coffee will continue as usual and the company will operate as a subsidiary of Reily Foods.

New England Coffee’s shareholders will withdraw from the day-to-day operations of the company; however, James Kaloyanides, one of the five existing shareholders, will continue to represent the company’s coffee interests to the National Coffee Association.

Kaloyanides said, "We are confident that this transaction positions New England Coffee, our employees and customers exceptionally well for the future."

Reily Foods president and CEO David Darragh said that New England Coffee and Reily Foods are both multi-generation, family-owned companies with many shared values.

"We look forward to working with all of the New England Coffee Company employees to achieve strong growth and expanded opportunities," Darragh added.

Headquartered in New Orleans, Reily Foods manufactures and markets coffees and teas and a range of cake flour, chili seasonings, mayonnaise, salad dressings, sauces and brownie mixes brands.
