Pepperidge Farm to expand snack cracker plant in US

US-based Pepperidge Farm, part of Campbell Soup, plans to invest $45m in the expansion of its plant in Richmond, Utah, US, to boost its Goldfish-branded snack cracker production.

The project will see the addition of another 94,000ft² to the existing 225,000ft² facility and is exected to be completed in 2014.

Pepperidge Farm president Pat Callaghan said that the Goldfish products enjoy one of the strongest growth rates, and the company expects that success to continue.

"After almost 40 years of productive operation at our Richmond plant, we are very pleased to continue and expand this outstanding partnership," Callaghan added.

Currently, the Richmond plant produces more than one million cases of Goldfish crackers annually.

Pepperidge Farm, which also produces fresh bakery products, cookies, crackers and frozen foods, is also planning to expand its Goldfish manufacturing plants in Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio.
