NFPC commences construction of food manufacturing facility at Kizad, UAE

The National Food Product Company (NFPC) has commenced construction of its 752,000m² manufacturing facility at Abu Dhabi Ports-operated Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad) in the UAE.

Senior management officials from NFPC and Abu Dhabi Ports were at the ground breaking ceremony at Kizad.

Expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2018, the new factory will manufacture most of NFPC brands, including Oasis, Gulf & Safa, Blu, Lacnor and Milco.

Abu Dhabi Ports CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: "By hosting NFPC as our anchor tenant, Kizad’s food cluster will significantly contribute towards the efforts to meet the growing food demand in the GCC, especially in the UAE."

Built at Kizad’s food cluster, the production plant will operate as an automated facility. It will be equipped with the latest technology similar to major food facilities worldwide.

Phase one of the Kizad facility will include a five-gallon water bottling plant, in addition to a 120,000m² Lacnor juice, Milco dairy and Oasis small water bottling plant.

The 120,000m² plant will use solar panels to produce hot water and thermal energy.

Phase one will also feature a 10,000m² office building, a wastewater treatment plant and a 2,800m² central district cooling plant with a refrigeration capacity of 18,000t.

The 45,000m² five-gallon water bottling plant will operate with an hourly capacity of 12,000 bottles, while the Oasis bottling plant will have a capacity of 72,000 bottles per hour.

Phase two will have a built-up area of 150,000m² and a recycling plant, a fully automated packaging factory to manufacture food containers and a fully automated cold store with the capacity of 150,000t to cater to customers of Khalifa Port.
