M&As this week: Altamont Capital Partners, Icelandic Group, Sumitomo

Altamont Capital Partners has completed the acquisition of Maxi Canada (Maxi), a manufacturer of frozen poultry products.

Altamont has received financial support from Royal Bank of Canada, National Bank of Canada, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch for the acquisition.

Icelandic Group has agreed to sell its subsidiary Ný-Fiskur to Nesfiskur. The deal will, however, not include the company’s ‘Iceland Seafood’ trademark.

Icelandic Group is a seafood distributor owned by Iceland Enterprise Investment Fund.

Ný-Fiskur processes and sells fresh seafood and operates a processing facility in Sandgerði.

Japan-based Sumitomo Corporation has agreed to acquire Fyffes for €751m ($798m) in a transaction that will involve the transfer of Fyffes’ shares for €2.23 ($2.37) a share in cash.

Based in Ireland, Fyffes is an international grower, importer and distributor of bananas, melons, pineapples and mushrooms.

The acquisition will enable Fyffes to expand its product offerings and operations into newer geographies.
