FoodMaestro app to simplify shopping for people suffering from allergies

A new app, FoodMaestro, will now help people suffering from allergies and intolerances to shop more efficiently.

With the new app, users will be able to scan a food product that can detect any ingredients they are allergic to.

The app, which can be used in supermarkets across the country, was developed by some of the UK’s top allergy specialists.

FoodMaestro co-founder Dharmendra Patel said: "Allergy sufferers are known to agonise over food labels to remain symptom-free, which makes grocery shopping a painstaking task.

"We’ve combined our skills and expertise to produce a powerful service that offers transparency and enhances food product options for allergy and intolerance sufferers, helping them to live more freely."

Customers using FoodMaestro can set up their respective profiles and input their dietary requirements that are then used to check food suitability.

SupermarWaitrose, Asda and Morrisons, have partnered with FoodMaestro, who’s app will contain detailed information of more than 100,000 food items sold byket chains, including these retailers.

Additionally, FoodMaestro also has an online portal that lets its users research products from home, and discover food that can be consumed by them.

Consultant Paediatric Allergist Dr George Du Toit said: "FoodMaestro is a huge breakthrough for allergy sufferers who have for some time struggled to find a reliable system that they can feel confident using.

"It is continually updated, making it a reliable tool that will greatly improve the way of life for allergy families."
