ConAgra to invest $30m in Oregon facility

ConAgra Foods plans to invest $30m at the Boardman facility in Oregon, US, as part of its strategy to expand its Lamb Weston business operations.

Expected to create an additional 50 jobs, the investment will bolster production capacity of food items such as hash brown patties and potato puffs.

Construction work of the new processing line is expected to commence later this year.

Slated to be completed next year, the new production line will enable the processing capacity of the facility to increase by nearly 50 million pounds.

The expansion of the Boardman manufacturing unit will help the firm in meeting domestic and international demand for frozen potato products and other formed products.

Lamb Weston president Greg Schlafer said: "With the frozen potato category growing globally, we have tremendous opportunity to support our customers’ growth in the US and around the world.

"To capture that growth, we need to make more products. Expanding our operations in the Columbia Basin, with access to great potatoes, people and ports, just makes sense."

The facility in Boardman has easy access to the Port of Morrow.
