FrieslandCampina to acquire Best Cheese Holland brands

Dutch dairy cooperative Royal FrieslandCampina has expanded its cheese activities with the acquisition of Parrano and Tjiezi brands from Best Cheese Holland.

Financial details of the transaction have not been divulged by both the companies.

With this acquisition, FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy intends to meet the growing consumer demand for dairy snacks as dippers in Europe, Asia, and North America.

The company also plans to respond stronger to the consumer need to use more cheese in cooking.

FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy president Roel van Neerbos said: “The acquisition of the brand Parrano and the dairy dippers fits in well with our ambition to provide dairy products for all consumption moments. These brands are a fine addition to our cheese activities.”

Known for its Italian-style cheese flakes, grated, and powder cheese, Parrano is said to be one of the fastest growing consumer brands in this segment.

The acquired activities will be integrated with FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy from 15 September.

Best Cheese Holland director Paul Wilde said: “This acquisition allows for the further international growth of the products of Parrano and Tjiezi.”

FrieslandCampina has also reached an agreement in principle to acquire import and sales activities of Best Cheese Holland in the US, for an undisclosed sum.

Completion of the deal is expected to take place after the agreed conditions have been met.

FrieslandCampina is engaged in the production and distribution of consumer products such as infant nutrition, cheese, desserts, and dairy-based beverages in many European countries, Asia, and Africa, through its own subsidiaries.
