Carrington Farms acquires whey protein brand tera’swhey

Carrington Farms has announced the acquisition of US whey protein company tera’swhey.

The natural foods industry innovator intends to accelerate its efforts to develop protein powders that meet its consumers changing tastes and preferences.

Established in 2009, tera’swhey offers USDA certified organic whey proteins in the US and claims that all its whey protein powders are produced by using fresh whey and contain organic flavours and ingredients.

Carrington Farms chief executive officer David Eben said: “At Carrington Farms, we are always aiming to provide simple, clean and real products to our consumers and adding tera’swhey to our parent brand portfolio is a representation of our commitment as a leading natural foods company.

“Between the quality products and the respectable reputation the tera’swhey brand has already established, we could not be more excited to use our unique, innovative and prospective approach to really disrupt the protein powder and supplement category.

“The seamless matchup between tera’s core values with Carrington’s is one that brings great promise and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to propel tera’s forward.”

The natural food producer also noted that tera’swhey products and approach are very closely aligned with its real food philosophy.

Since 1999, Carrington Farms has been producing non-genetically modified products using simple and clean ingredients.

The acquisition is also expected to support Carrington Farms efforts to develop a protein powder set in the health and well-being segment and gain better access to supplement purchasing customers and channels.

Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed by either companies.
