Kashi acquires nutrition bar maker Pure Organic

US-based Kashi Company has acquired fruit snack and nutrition bar producer Pure Organic.

Financial details of the acquisition have not been divulged by the company.

Pure Organic was founded by Veronica Lehman a decade ago.

Its products are certified organic, and do not contain gluten, soy and dairy.

Pure Organic’s product portfolio includes fruit and nut bars, ancient grain bars and fruit and vegetable strips made with simple ingredients.

In a video posted on the brand’s Facebook page, Lehman said: "One of the reasons I knew Kashi was a great fit for Pure was because they fell in love with Pure for all the right reasons, the same reasons we love the brand.

"They appreciated the homegrown roots and the values that we stand for and the effort that we put into making delicious organic products.

"Since I started Pure, it has been a daily goal of mine to bring more nutritious organic food to more people. Kashi has the resources, the knowledge, better distribution, to allow us to do just that."

This acquisition is in line with Kashi’s strategy to tap the growing consumer demand for organic foods.

Kashi’s offerings include gluten-free crackers prepared with ancient grain called teff; savoury snack bars in flavours as chickpea curry; and organic protein powder blends.
