Axiom Foods to produce natural rice bran oil in India

Global manufacturer and distributor of allergen-friendly plant protein ingredients Axiom Foods is expanding its operations in India with the production of hexane-free and ethanol-free natural rice bran oil, as well as a wide range of stabilised rice bran ingredients.

Axiom is known for its chemical-free enzymatic fractioning process of brown rice and mechanically fractioned pea protein featured in many food products and has recently secured FDA GRAS approval.

Axiom Foods CEO David Janow said: “Our natural process will offer the food and equine feed industries not only a chemical-free and nutrient-rich product, but also at a cost savings of at least 25% less than what the competition is able to offer.

“We have identified a varietal of Indian rice as having the highest yield of oil and nutrients, and the massive source meets our strict quality testing requirements. Building this facility is a sustainable expansion, as it eradicates having to ship rice worldwide for processing.

“Commercial quantities will be reached within six months and following that, we will also fraction protein from the bran layer.”

The company has identified certain varietals of rice in India that are suitable for the production of rice bran and rice bran oil using wholly cold-pressed mechanical manufacturing.

Axiom Foods expertise lies within this process, which uses hexane and ethanol for their extraction processes.

The company also claims that the product cost will be less by approximately 25% in comparison to others available within the market. Axiom will setup its newest office and manufacturing plant in India.

Stabilised rice bran oil is a rich source of fat that includes a mélange of B vitamins, phosphorus and also contains gamma Oryzanol.

According to Global Market Insights, the global rice bran oil market size was estimated at more than 1.2 million tonnes last year.

The Indian rice bran oil market size is predicted to be more than $600 million by the end of the year.
