Tainted Chicken Feed Could be Behind Salmonella Outbreak

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that contaminated chicken feed could be linked to a salmonella outbreak that sickened nearly 1,700 people.

The chicken feed was distributed to Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms in Iowa, Farrar said.

FDA associate commissioner for food protection Jeff Farrar said it wasn’t known if the feed was already contaminated or if it became contaminated at the farms.

The agency is investigating how the feed could have become contaminated, according to AFP.
