Listeria Contamination Prompts Deli Meat Recall

Zemco Industries, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods, is recalling around 380,000lb of deli meat believed to be contaminated with a strain of listeria monocytogenes.

According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the product, which includes roast beef and Black Forest ham, was distributed to Wal-Mart delis across the country and was used to make sandwiches.

The USDA said a retail sample collected by the state of Georgia tested positive for the bacterium.

The company said that the recall does not involve individual packages of deli meat.
