Kraft Q2 Profits Rise

The acquisition of Cadbury has boosted Kraft Foods, which reported a 13% rise in second-quarter net profit of $937m, up from $827m in the same period a year ago.

The confectionery giant’s net revenue increased 25.3% to $12.3bn, it said.

The company’s operating income rose 16.8% to $1.7bn, which includes an impact from Cadbury’s operations.

Kraft said the company’s gross margin widened to 38.3% from 35.9%.

Earnings at the firm’s North America business were up 11%.
