CFIA Issues Meat Consumption Warning

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a warning over the consumption of certain meat products because of possible listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Included in the warning are Casa Italia-brand salami and prosciutto ham and Emma Provolone cheese.

The products have been distributed nationally and a number of them have been sold at deli counters, the CFIA said.

The federal agency said the products are being voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer Zadi Foods in Ontario.

Consumption of foods contaminated with listeria may cause listeriosis, an illness with symptoms of fever, headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
