Zhongpin Invests in Pork Processing Plant

Food company Zhongpin has invested about $6.3m in the expansion of a Chinese pork processing plant to increase production by 35%.

The investment will increase the Anyang facility’s annual capacity to 85,000t from the current 63,000t, Zhongpin said.

The firm will upgrade the pre-cooling room to increase the capacity for chilled pork.

After the expansion chilled pork will account for about 70% of the plant’s capacity, up from the current 60%.

The expansion is expected to be completed by July, the company said.
