UK Firm Invests in Poultry Processing Facility

UK-based 2 Sisters Food Group is to invest nearly £30m ($48m) to redesign a poultry processing facility in Norfolk, England.

The company said that it aims to convert the old Tulip meat plant into a food processing facility and offer a new range of nutritious, coated-food products to customers.

2 Sisters UK managing director Eddie Power said that the new facility would be automated with technological and environmental advances and allow the company to minimise its carbon footprint by reducing the distribution emissions and lowering energy usage.

The site, which is expected to focus on breaded chicken, will initially act as the “platform for growth” for the company’s prepared foods division.

2 Sisters plans to work with other coated proteins, such as fish, at a later date.
