Empresas Polar Plans Yogurt Unit

Venezuelan food producer Empresas Polar is planning to team up with Grupo Leche Pascual in Spain to invest around $100m in a yogurt facility.

The companies have formed a joint venture, Pascual Andina, to carry out the project in Valencia, Spain.

Empresas said it has invested nearly $4.6m to buy an existing factory and machinery.

The plant is expected to be completed in early 2012.

Empresas produces sauces, cheese, canned foods, beer and animal food, while Grupo Leche Pascual produces dairy products, beverages and tortillas.
