Univar to distribute Tata NQ’s digestive health ingredients in Canada

Global ingredients supplier Univar has signed an agreement with Tata Chemicals to distribute fermented, digestive health ingredients in the Canadian market.

Tata NQ is the nutritional solutions division of Tata Chemicals that offers health ingredients tailored to meet consumer trends.

Tata Chemicals Global Chemicals Business executive director and president Zarir Langrana said: “We are excited to partner with Univar Canada in expanding our footprint in the Nutritional solutions space.

“While we have been growing this business in India, this marks a milestone for us in the entry into the North American market. Equipped with the learnings and capabilities of our in-house food technology and analytics team, we are geared to provide customised solutions to the Canadian market, not only in terms of ingredients but also formulations.

“Univar makes for the right partner with their outreach, technical expertise and presence in the segments we wish to jointly develop. Together, we plan to have an exciting journey.”

Univar will serve as the exclusive distributor of Tata NQ’s Fossence and Gossence prebiotic dietary fibre portfolio of ingredients for the Canadian market.

Fossence and Gossence fibre products are produced using Tata NQ’s proprietary in-house fermentation technology at an Indian manufacturing facility.

The company further explained that the fibres are used in a wide range of applications including dietary supplements, functional foods such as bakery, dairy, snack foods and confectionaries.

Univar Canada focused industries vice-president Adam Lasenzaniro said: “This collaboration with Tata, in the high-growth areas of digestive health and functional ingredients for the food and nutraceutical industries, will help our customers address the prebiotic megatrend we’re seeing in health, wellness and nutrition.”
