Sysco, a marketer and distributor of food products, has expanded its US distribution network with the acquisition of Doerle Food Services.

Headquartered in Broussard, Louisiana, Doerle is a broadline distributor with about $250m in annual food service distribution sales in parts of six states.

The acquired company distributes a range of products to the foodservice industry in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Sysco president and chief executive officer Tom Bené said: “Doerle has a sterling reputation of providing the highest quality products, cultivating deep, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers, and providing impeccable service.

“We believe these principles align with Sysco’s vision of being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner.”

Both the companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition.

“Sysco is focused on finding attractive growth opportunities, which complement or expand the footprint of our core business.”

It is reported that Sysco is acquiring Doerle’s foodservice distribution business and Doerle Energy and Marine is not part of the deal.

According to Sysco, it intends to retain the executive management team of the foodservice distribution business.

Doerle Food Services’ customer base includes restaurants, fast-food multi-unit chains, healthcare institutions, casinos, schools, and government contracts.

Bené further noted that: “As part of our strategic M and A plan, Sysco is focused on finding attractive growth opportunities, which complement or expand the footprint of our core business.

“The acquisition of Doerle is a great fit for Sysco and reaffirms our commitment to creating value for our customers, associates, and shareholders.”
