SPC sells IXL and Taylor’s jam, marinade and sauce brands in Australia

SPC has sold IXL and Taylor’s jam, marinade and sauce brands to the Kyabram Conserves company following the announcement of its divestment plans in January this year.

The Kyabram Conserves company is backed by Sydney-based fund and asset management firm Millennium Capital Managers.

SPC’s managing director Reg Weine said: “This is a good outcome for IXL and Taylor’s and good news for the Goulburn Valley.

“IXL and Taylor’s are great brands, but the spreads and sauces/marinades categories were a small part of the SPC portfolio and it was better we focused on areas where we have a more distinct competitive advantage.

“However, we had a great sense of responsibility in ensuring these heritage brands found a good home and that’s been achieved in this sale.”

SPC acquired IXL in 2004 from founder Henry Jones’ H. Jones & Company.

Kyabram Conserves will continue to process IXL and Taylor’s locally from the existing site in Kyabram, Victoria, and will also retain the existing workforce.

Weine further added: “We welcome the commitments from the new owners for continued local production and jobs, and a continued focus on delighting Australians with this world-class range of jams, sauces and marinades.”

Packaged fruit and vegetable processing business SPC is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Amatil, which announced the initiation of a strategic review process in August this year.
